Privacy Policy
This policy describes how Ovaira Systems handles information in The History – Reparations. It applies to the mobile app and related support services. Last updated August 2026.
Information used by the app
The History – Reparations is primarily an offline educational reference. Historical timelines, citations, calculator models, and state-by-state data are bundled with the app and do not require a network connection to read.
The app may store your display preferences locally on your device, such as currency display settings and cached exchange-rate values used only for USD/EUR formatting.
Account and authentication data
If you create an account, the app collects the information needed to sign you in:
- your email address,
- a password processed and hashed by Firebase Authentication,
- a unique user ID generated by Firebase,
- and the date your account was created.
If Firebase is not configured in a given build, the app may use a local development sign-in mode on that device only. Production App Store builds use Firebase Authentication when credentials are present at build time.
How information is used
We use account information solely to authenticate your session and maintain access to the app. We do not sell personal information. We do not use your account for advertising or political campaigns.
Historical and calculator content is processed locally on your device. We do not operate analytics or usage-tracking services in the app.
Third-party services
Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore (Google LLC) process account sign-in and may store basic profile metadata needed for authentication. Google's privacy practices are described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
When you choose EUR display, the app may request a public exchange-rate feed from frankfurter.app to convert USD figures for display only. If that request fails, the app uses a cached or fallback rate stored locally on your device.
External source links in the historical record open in your device's browser. Those sites operate under their own policies.
Data retention and deletion
You can permanently delete your account yourself at any time, from inside the app, at Account → Delete Account. The same control is available at the bottom of the in-app Privacy Policy screen when you are signed in. Deletion removes your Firebase Authentication account and associated Firestore profile data, then signs you out. Signing out alone does not delete your account.
You may also request deletion by contacting hello@ovaira.app from the email address associated with the account. We aim to process verified deletion requests within 30 days.
Local preferences stored on your device can be cleared by removing the app from your device.
Mature content and age
The app presents mature historical content, including accounts of slavery, racial violence, and sexual violence under slavery. A content warning is shown before first use. Availability by age is governed by the age rating published on the app store listing for your region.
We do not ask for a date of birth and we do not verify age. If you believe an account was created by someone who should not have access to this material, contact hello@ovaira.app and we will delete the account.
